Framed Photograph of William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg & Co.

n/p: Unknown, n/d (Circa 1985). Enlarged Photograph. Matted & Framed Sheet. A stunning group portrait, with (seated, front, left-to-right) William S. Burroughs & Allen Ginsberg, the Founding Fathers of the Beat Generation. Behind them (standing, left-to-right) are Black Mountain School primary poet Robert Creeley, Beat-New York School Goddess Anne Waldman, unknown, & Edie Kerouac-Parker, memoirist & Jack Kerouac's first wife. The image is an enlarged photograph (appx. 8&3/4" x 7&1/2"), handsomely matted & framed with glass (total dimensions appx. 15" x 13&7/8"). There is no information on the image, matting or frame backing, but we do know that this is from the estate-collection of the late James Perrizo, the devoted Beat-&-Beyond collector & scholar who was at one time Kerouac-Parker's assistant. We surmise that Perrizo himself might have taken the photograph from which this enlargement was made. Our keen eye for the legendary figures depicted in the image indicate the probability that it was made during the mid-1980s, possibly at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, where Ginsberg & Waldman co-founded the Jack Kerouac Institute of Disembodied Poetics. This same group, along with many other greats, often gathered there for special events (such as the 25th anniversary celebration of Kerouac's On the Road during 1982) as well as to teach & present. Also, Perrizo's collaboration with Kerouac-Parker took place during this period (she died in 1993). A unique WSB, Ginsberg & Co. collectible. It is our policy not to tamper with framed offerings, so this is available only in this form & will require additional postage. Image & surrounding matte in apparently very fine, quite perfect condition. Frame very fine with only a few tiny bumps, chips at edges & corners. frame backing fine with sturdy mounting wire; typical slight waving, creasing & light scratching of paper; several very-small-to-tiny closed tear-holes, tiny non-puncturing dimples. Very Fine. [Item #3781]
