The Father Box

Durham, NC: Horse & Buggy Press, 2018. Limited First Edition. Sewn Wrappers. Signed by John Lane & Rob McDonald. "I have kept a box of what remains of my father's material life. He committed suicide in 1959 when I was five years old. In the box are letters, photos, objects, papers. Around the anniversary of when he would have turned a hundred years old (2015), I began to reach into the box and write pieces about what I found. I added these to a few poems I'd written earlier to form this manuscript. I asked my friend, the photographer Rob McDonald, to reach into the box as well and pull things out. These are his photos." (from "What's Inside," Lane's introduction) A somber, moving collaboration between the acclaimed South Carolinian poet, environmentalist & educator John Lane; & the noted photographer Rob McDonald. Large chapbook in sewn wrappers, one of an edition of 298 hand-numbered copies, this is copy No. 215/298 per colophon.
