Los Angeles, CA: Illuminati, 1984. Lettered Artist's Edition. Stapled in Over-Wraps. Signed by Tom Clark & with signed autograph poem-artwork. "Local as a mobile, you don't need a credit/ card. Don't sign the form. Don't tell me your/ phone number. There is no membership fee./ Your acreage will be mailed to you in the near/ future. Please do not attempt to reply to this/ note." (fourth poem-commentary) A chapbook with short poems (more like prose-poetic essay-commentaries) that muse on the concept-construct of property by Tom Clark (1941-2018), the great & prolific American poet, editor, novelist, biographer & artist who perhaps most exemplifies our category of "The Prolific & Underappreciated." A beautiful, hand-crafted chapbook production in loose over-wraps illustrated by Anya Liffey. Colophon states: "An edition of 225 copies/ printed in June of 1984,/ of which 50 are numbered/ and signed by the author." Below this is hand-written in bold red ink: Artist's Edition/ C/ (signed) Tom Clark." On recto of previous page leaf, opposite the final poem, is an affixed map fragment with a poem hand-written & signed by Clark in blue & red ink (felt-tip or watercolor). And so, this copy is apparently one of 26 lettered & signed by Clark & with a unique autograph poem-artwork; apart from the 225 copies noted in colophon as above. A most desirable & collectible rarity-within-a-rarity in the vast Clark canon. In very fine condition with extremely irregular side edges of interior page leaves as issued; just a few very light, faint scratches at surfaces of front, back covers & spine of over-wraps (which may be as issued); a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same & flaps; blank brown inner wraps with very slight wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners. Interior very fine, substantially mint as hand-produced. Very Fine. [Item #3823]
