Llandysul, Wales: Dewi Stephen Jones, 2012. First Edition. Softcover. Inscribed at great length & signed by Dewi Stephen Jones to Thomas Rain Crowe; & with Jones' handwritten English translation of a poem. A collection of poems by Dewi Stephen Jones, the noted Welsh poet. All text in the Welsh language. Trade-format softcover original, first edition. Beginning on shorter title page, continuing on next blank & title pages, Jones has hand-written a most lengthy inscription "For Thomas & Nan," who are Thomas Rain Crowe & his partner. Crowe was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting from San Francisco, item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075), & among his many interests & areas of expertise are the Welsh, Irish & Scottish Celtic languages & cultures. The inscription notes that this is Jones' second collection, discusses his own, Crowes' & Nan's works, & ends as follows: "I hope we have our usual/ talk after Christmas- from your/ last photo Thomas you have/ enough logs for many a/ cold winter./ All the best & keep/ going with the poems,/ (signed) Dewi (underlined)." Additionally, on pages 6 & 7, Jones has hand-written an English translation of his poem "O'r Carchar," printed in Welsh on pg. 7, as "From the Prison." Included loosely between inner front cover & endpaper is a single sheet, folded width-wise into two sections, with printing on recto of Jones' poem "The Pigeons," translated into English by Joseph Clancy as hand-noted (by Clancy?) below the printed poem. A rare Jones collectible with exceptionally rich association & provenance. In very fine condition with only very light rubbing & scratching to front, back covers & spine; a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same. Interior very fine with only miniscule bumps at lower corners of a few page leaves; otherwise substantially mint. Ephemera fine with moderate wear & creasing esp. at/near upper & lower edges; two tiny spots at same edges. Very Fine. [Item #3844]
