Broadside: "Visiting Father & Friends"

Louisville, KY: White Fields Press, 1995. First Printing. Single Sheet. "I went upstairs, happy to see/ he had a place to lay his head for good, and woke in China." (from final stanza) A broadside (appx. 11" x 21&3/4") with the title poem by Allen Ginsberg, Founding Father of the Beat Generation. The poem records a dream he had while visiting China, in which Ginsberg reunites with famous friends & family, including the long-gone Neal Cassady & his late father, Louis Ginsberg. Precisely dated & placed "November 16, 1984/ 6:52AM/ Baodong, P.R.C." A boldly simple, beautiful production of Ron Whitehead & Kent Fielding's White Fields Press, which in tandem with The Literary Renaissance was devoted to "supporting a global arts community." Designated as No. 28 in the Press's "Published in Heaven" series- of particular relevance here, since the term is a quote-nod toward Ginsberg's famous dedication to "Howl." First printing of unknown limitation. An evocative, exemplary later Ginsberg poem presented in this rare & desirable form. In very fine condition with only very light rubbing & some colorless spotting to surface. Will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube. This item cannot be sent by Media Mail, so extra shipping & handling charges are required. Very Fine. [Item #3876]
