The title poem, quoted above, has more-than-poetic resonance as of this writing if we may say so ourselves. An austerely beautiful chapbook production with illustrated loose over-wraps by Holocene, "Not only the present geologic epoch, but a micro-publisher in upstate South Carolina..." (front flap). One of 473 un-numbered copies "Produced nearing the spring equinox, 1994," 26 lettered & signed copies were also produced, per colophon. Although this copy is not from the officially lettered & signed edition, Peterson has hand-written, signed & dated at time of publication on the title page: "(signed) Jim Peterson/ April 4, 1994/ For Thomas & Nan,/ with admiration/ & anticipation-/ (signed) Jim." "Thomas & Nan" are Thomas Rain Crowe & his partner. Crowe, the noted poet & publisher, was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting from San Francisco, item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). Crowe & Peterson share a deep, native connection to & devotion with the land & nature of the southern regions of the United States. A very rare & desirable Peterson collectible with significant poet-to-poet association & provenance. In very fine condition with only a few short creases & tiny bumps to edges & corners of front, back covers & spines of over-wraps & blank stapled wrappers.
