A very large (appx. 27&1/2" x 39&1/2") promotional poster for the film "Querelle," directed by the acclaimed German filmmaker Werner Rainer Fassbinder (1945-1982, his final film released shortly after his death), based on the 1947 novel Querelle of Brest by Proto-Beat-&-Beyond legendary author Jean Genet. With reproduction of an exemplary treated-Polaroid artwork by Andy Warhol, commissioned by Fassbinder for this poster. The green background here is one of three colors issued for this poster, which also appeared in blue & grey. A German (then West Germany or Federal Republic of Germany before unification) production with all text in German. The film itself was produced in Germany with French involvement & in the English language, starring the American actor Brad Davis in the title role. A very rare & stunning piece of collectible ephemera by the ultimate triumvirate of cinematic, literary & artistic homoeroticism- Fassbinder, Genet & Warhol. In very fine condition with only a few very faint, small creases & a row of small, shallow horizontal waves at upper & right side edges respectively; a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners. Currently mounted on stiff board in protective shrink-wrap, will be shipped carefully rolled in a tube.
