Cullowhee, NC: New Native Press, 1991; 1994; 1995. Limited First Editions; First Edition. Single Sheets; Softcover. "Against Information" broadside signed by John Lane. A collection of three collectors' items by John Lane, the noted & prolific South Carolinian poet, environmentalist & academician: (1) "The Body is Full of Lovers," a broadside (appx. 7&3/8" x 13&3/8") with the title poem below reproduction of an uncredited (but signed- by Goya?) illustration of a nude. Colophon below Lane's boldly printed name states: "100 copies printed by New Native Press in the winter of 1991." NNP is the imprint of Thomas Rain Crowe, the acclaimed North Carolinian poet & publisher who was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting From San Francisco, Item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). Crowe & Lane are long-standing close friends & kindred colleagues rooted in their beloved Carolinas. Printed (recto only) on thick, very light green paper stock. (2) "Against Information," a broadside folded to form five panels/ ten sides with the title poem printed on all sides except two which form front & back covers when folded (appx. 5" x 7" folded; 7" x 24&3/4" unfolded). Another NNP production. On the front title page, below or next to his printed name (as printing & writing is perpendicular to page along its length), Lane has hand-written his signature in bold black ink. (3) Against Information and Other Poems, a collection including the title poem, also printed on (2) the preceding year (1994). The format & content of Lane's prose-poems here are quite uniquely conversational & evocative, what we might call the product of a one-man school of poetry. Another NNP production, smaller trade-format softcover original, first edition, first printing as stated on copyright page. As stated thereon in regard to (2): "A limited edition broadside of "Against Information" was published by (NNP) in May 1994." We note that no reference to a particular limitation is noted on the back cover folded/ copyright page of (2). A unique & desirable bundle of John Lane rarities, all in very fine condition: (1) with only a few tiny bumps, creases at thin edges & corners. (2) folded as noted with only tiny bumps at corners of some pages/ panels. (3) with only a touch of rubbing to glossy front, back covers & spine; a few tiny bumps, creases at thin edges & corners of same; very light, sparse spotting to side edge of text block. Interior with only tiny bumps at upper corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #4190]
