Ashland, KY: BullHead Books, 2020. First Edition. Sewn Wrappers. "Words would no longer have any meaning,/ for the distance is shattered between the word/ and the catastrophe./ Meridel Le Sueur, North Star Country" ("October 25, 1983," first stanza, unpaginated) The title poem by Joe Napora, the passionate (quite especially here) & prolific American poet, editor, publisher & activist. Colophon states: "Printed at the end of January 2020; written the month after the U.S. invasion of Grenada "to restore order and protect U.S. property" the president said." In the immediate wake of that particular American military exercise, Napora rails against it & the many that preceded it, including of course the Vietnam War. With vintage cartoon of President Theodore Roosevelt wielding his "Big Stick" astride the Caribbean Sea reproduced on front cover, & exemplary Napora-style graphics throughout. A very recent, exemplary chapbook production of Napora's own BullHead Books imprint, in collaboration with "BullHorn Sound," chapbook in sewn wrappers. An incendiary Napora collectible, emphasizing his role as the political protestor-poet-activist. In very fine condition with only a touch of rubbing to front, back covers & sewn spine; a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; several tiny-to-very-small, mostly light spot-stains at blank margin near middle right side-edge of front cover; several very small stains at lower side edge of text block. Interior very fine with only miniscule bumps at corners of some page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #4248]
