A collection of five rare broadsides produced by New Native Press, the imprint of Thomas Rain Crowe, the acclaimed poet & publisher who was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting From San Francisco, Item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075): (1) Wendell Berry, excerpt from poem "The Letter" ("The Cities have forgot the earth," first line in bold font), broadside (appx. 5" x 6" folded, 10" x 6" unfolded) folded vertically into two panels/ four sides with printing on front side only. Colophon states: "This edition of 200 has been hand-set by/ Holocene and the New Native Press in/ December, 1986." On light brown-beige card stock. A very scarce collectible by the much-beloved American author & environmentalist. (2) Richard Cambridge, "Canticle: from A Book of Books," broadside (appx. 4&1/4" x 5&1/2" folded, 8&1/2" x 11" unfolded) folded into four panels/ eight sides with printing on six sides (all of verso & half of recto unfolded). With "Canticle #7" excerpt of the title poem. Rear cover folded states: "A New Native Press/ broadside/ 2004." On grey paper stock. Cambridge is a well-known prolific poet & "Slam" performer who appropriately lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts (see Item No.s 3691, 3699 & 3896). (3) Michael Davitt, "Turas Journey," broadside (appx. 4&1/4" x 5&1/2" folded, 8&1/2" x 11" unfolded) folded into four panels/ eight sides with printing on six sides (all of verso & half of recto unfolded). With the title poem, rear cover folded states: "New Native Press/ (copyright) 2001." On light-red paper stock. Davitt (1950-2005) is considered to be among the finest & most influential modern Irish poets (see Item No. 3813). (4) A variation on (3), substantially identical except for being printed on white paper stock. (5)Ted Pope, "If," broadside (appx. 4&1/4" x 5&1/2" folded, 8&1/2" x 11" unfolded) folded into four panels/ eight sides with printing on six sides (all of verso & half of recto unfolded). With the title poem, rear cover folded states: "a New Native Press/ broadside/ 2005." On lightly speckled beige paper stock. Pope is a young & dynamic North Carolina poet who is the direct progeny of the BBG/ SSFR, even mentioned as such by Crowe in SFSF (pg. 80, for more by Pope, see Item No.s 3941, 4060). A collectible, desirable bundle of varied NNP broadsides. All in very fine condition with only a few tiny bumps, faint creases at thin edges & corners esp. of (4) & (5). Very Fine. [Item #4263]
