Sylva, NC: Milky Way Editions with New Native Press, 2019. First Edition. Softcover. Signed by Thomas Rain Crowe. "Michael Revere has been on the poet's journey for the long haul. He's been published in literary journals and anthologies, has published several collections of his poems and has his archives collected at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He could have completed his stint as one of the most authentic and dedicated of American poets with his last book Raking Leaves in a Hurricane. Instead, he has continued to write "a poem a day" during the year of 2018 and has come up with what may be the best and possibly the longest lasting collection of his life in terms of his legacy. In Hey Jude, a book in homage to his wife Judith Revere, he combines strong poems of spirituality, sociology and love." (from quote by Thomas Rain Crowe, back cover) A collection of poems by Michael Revere, an American Vietnam War-era veteran, poet, musician & activist. The first section, entitled & beginning with the title poem, & the volume as a whole, is dedicated to Revere's late beloved wife Jude (1951-2018). All of Revere's poems & self-described proverbs are infused with earthy, world-weary wisdom as well as a deep Christian spirituality. Trade-format softcover, first edition as stated on copyright page, first printing as stated & indicated by number sequence thereon. There is no reference to any hardcover edition by publisher on copyright page, though we have seen such a reference by another seller- perhaps a mistake? The acclaimed poet & publisher Thomas Rain Crowe, quoted above, was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting From San Francisco, Item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). Crowe & Revere are long-standing friends & colleagues with a mutual deep connection to North Carolina. Crowe's New Native Press imprint formatted & designed this volume, & on the copyright page, next to that reference, Crowe has hand-written his signature in bold blue ink. Also, Crowe's partner Nan Watkins is specially thanked thereon "...for copy-editing and proofreading this book." A moving, ultimately inspiring poetic achievement; a most desirable Revere collectible with significant association & provenance. See also Item No.s 3558, 4163 & 4193 (the latter referred to in Crowe's quote above). In very fine condition with only a few miniscule bumps at edges & corners of front, back covers & spine; one tiny, non-penetrative scratch each to front & back covers; otherwise substantially mint inside & out. Very Fine. [Item #4278]
