The Kerouac Connection No. 20 (Autumn 1990)
ISBN: (ISSN)09542965
Glasgow, Scotland: The Kerouac Connection, 1990. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. This vintage number of the UK literary journal of the Beat Generation & especially Jack Kerouac, newly edited by James Morton (after being rescued from termination by its devoted followers, see item No. 4425 & below), features a fragment from "The Little Sutra" by Kerouac himself, circa 1955, followed by a fascinating article on Kerouac's love of animals in his life & works by Jeanne Conn. Also a short essay-review on Allen Ginsberg's appearance at London's Royal Albert Hall on June 15, 1990 by Ian Duckett; an interview with Cliff Anderson, Kerouac's friend mentioned in Satori in Paris & in Gerald Nicosia's acclaimed critical biography Memory Babe, conducted by Rod Anstee; an article on Desolation Lookout which Kerouac famously occupied as recounted in Desolation Angels by his friend John Montgomery; & Kerouac tribute-themed poems by Conn, John K. Rupert & others; & more. With statements by torch-passing Moore & inaugural editor Morton, a long section of impassioned letters that demonstrate how KC was inspired to carry on, book reviews, a "News" section on contemporary Beat developments, notes on contributors; also a few ads, illustration & photos, including front cover image of Desolation Lookout taken by Montgomery in 1990, with the caption "LOOKOUT- WE'RE BACK." Bravo for Moore, Morton & their valuable, collectible KC journal. Their dedication is our gain. Stay tuned for yet further issues. In very fine condition with only very light rubbing, a few short, faint creases & sparse spotting to front, back covers & stapled spine; a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps, creases at thin edges & corners of same; a touch of browning to edges of text block. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps at corners of some page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #4438]
