Jack Kerouac's Visions of Cody...The Long Road

Coventry, England: Beat Scene Press, 2012. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. A fine work of Beat scholarship by Kevin Ring, editor-publisher of the indispensable Beat Scene magazine & an ongoing series of chapbook-style publications of which this is one. Ring's essay chronicles & explains the long & bumpy road of Jack Kerouac's Visions of Cody. An important thread in the Kerouac oeuvre, a fragment of Visions was published as a signed limited edition during 1959, & the complete work first appeared posthumously in 1972. "Cody" is of course Neal Cassady, the same muse as "Dean Moriarty" of On the Road. One of an edition of 100 hand-numbered copies issued in March 2012 to commemorate Kerouac's 90th birthday. Chapbook in stapled wrappers; the first and only printing of this Beat Scene Press production. While higher limitation numbers might typically render an item less desirable, this ambrosially appetizing digestif of Beat Scholarship delivers on both counts—content, and rarity. A laudable contribution to Kerouac scholarship that will continue to grow in value. In very fine condition, substantially mint inside & out. Very Fine. [Item #5034]
