An Alleghany Star Route Anthology (Grosseteste Review Vol. 8, 1975)

Lincoln, England: Grosseteste Review, 1975. Limited First Edition. Softcover. "Old one the dog stretches stiff-legged,/ soon he'll be underground. Spring's first fat bee/ buzzes yellow over new grass and dead leaves." (first stanza, untitled poem by Allen Ginsberg, pg. 14) This special number of the UK literary journal is edited by Franco Beltrametti (1937-1995), the noted Swiss-Italian artist & writer, & features two contributions by Allen Ginsberg, Founding Father of the Beat Generation- an untitled short poem (quoted above), & "Om Ah Hum: 43 Temporary Questions on Dr. Leary," a uniquely formatted prose-poetic work consisting of questions relating to Dr. Timothy Leary, dated "18 March 1974" & exemplary of Ginsberg's politically charged, sarcastic writing of this period (pgs. 14-18). Morgan, C717, pg. 260. Also in this anthology/ issue are contributions of (mostly) poetry & prose by Native American writer Peter Blue Cloud, Dale Pendell, (both members of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance), Nanao Sakaki, original Beat- San Francisco Renaissance Icons Gary Snyder & Lew Welch (the issue is dedicated "...to the poet, Lew Welch, who disappeared 23 May 1971 without leaving tracks" - from Editor's Note), & more. With reproduction of vintage Native American photograph on front cover, several interior illustrations. Softcover in sewn binding in over-wraps/jacket with flaps, a handsome production.
