Satori in Paris

London, England: Quartet Books, 1973. First UK Edition Thus. Softcover. Jack Kerouac (March 12, 1922–October 21, 1969) is undeniably a looming colossus of American literature, and a founding father of the Beat Generation. An oeuvre as impressive, deeply personal, and revealing you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere. “Satori In Paris” is another handily executed short masterwork from Kerouac. It details the period in which he traveled to Paris and Brittany (France) to track down his French Canadian roots, and capture the essence of his ancestral country. As was his wont, “Satori In Paris” is a properly journalistic, thinly veiled (and highly stylized) autobiography. Cover art by UK artist, Ray Fibush (1948-1998). A true portrait of the Lonely Traveler, and–in Kerouac’s case–the needlessly destructive alcoholism that dominates his final years. Mass-market format softcover; a UK First Edition Thus (& simultaneously, the First Quartet Books Edition) of this essential Kerouac work first published in 1966. In very fine condition, with slight wear at fine edges, some smudging to front and back covers, and mild sun bleaching to same. Very Fine. [Item #5081]
