A poster (appx. 14&1/2" x 20&1/2") announcing a New Years Eve concert with a performance by the popular neo-psychedelic surf band The Mermen, during December 31, 1996- January 1, 1997 at the Beach Chalet in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California. The acclaimed American artist Dave Hunter, among the premiere torch-bearers of the exuberant 1960s San Francisco style with his own unique twists, created the artwork & graphics reproduced here. One of an edition of 100 hand-numbered copies signed by Hunter, this is copy No. 2/100. Just below the purple border of central image near lower right corner, Hunter has hand-written & signed in bold silver ink: "2/100 (signed) Dave Hunter." (see image) Here, Hunter appears to have taken some classical-biblical illustration, reproduced & altered it with bold new colors & forms, & overlayed it with his unique calligraphy. An especially rare & stunning Hunter collectible, the second-to-lowest number in a very limited edition. In very fine condition with only a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of blank white over-margins, image entirely bright & mint. his item is too delicate to be rolled & must be shipped flat to assure no damage, therefore extra shipping costs will be required.
