San Francisco, CA: Dave Hunter/ Great American Music Hall, 2005. First Edition. Single Sheet. Signed by Dave Hunter. A poster (appx. 12&3/4" x 17&1/4") announcing "The New Now Ball" concert with performances headlined by the Steve Kimock Band featuring Rodney Holmes, Robert Walter & Reed Mathis; along with Pyeng Threadgill, David Jacobs-Strain & several DJs, during December 28-31, 2005 at the Great American Music Hall venue in San Francisco. Kimock (b. 1955) is a popular American rock guitarist most associated with the legacy & members of the Grateful Dead. The acclaimed American artist Dave Hunter, among the premiere torch-bearers of the exuberant 1960s San Francisco poster art style with his own unique twists (as Kimock & co. bear the torch of that era's music), created the artwork & graphics reproduced here, & "(c) 2005 Dave Hunter..." is found at lower red margin above edge & just below "HARMONY PRODUCTIONS." At lower right margin near corner, just below & very slightly overlapping with "MUCH MORE!", Hunter has hand-written his signature in bold silver ink. (see image) There is no reference to a limitation, but we presume this is the first & likely only printing of this poster. Here, Hunter appears to have taken some classic eastern-religious image of statues, reproduced & greatly altered/ added to it with bold new colors & forms, with his own central-enveloping drawing of some angel-Goddess figure with her arms outstretched in cosmic beneficence. A very rare Hunter collectible, a tour-de-force of glorious neo-psychedelic artistry. See also our item No. 5585. In very fine condition with only a few tiny bumps, faint creases at/near edges & corners; otherwise entire printed recto is blindingly bright & substantially mint.
