Bukowski Review No. 2 (Winter 2002-2003)

Long Beach, CA: Pearl Editions, 2002. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. This second issue of the short-lived Bukowski Review followed the first posthumous homage (see item #5801) a full year later. Joan Jobe Smith (b. 1940) was not sure about continuing the project, but an annual review of the impact Charles Bukowski had on the literary underground was deemed a worthwhile endeavor. After the introductory essays and interviews of the first issue presented the complex multi-faceted poet as a controversial figure, the shorter pieces and poems in this issue expand on the reasons for his followers to perpetuate his work. Wilma Elizabeth McDaniel returns, as does Ann Menebroker, Linda King, and Fred Voss. New contributors include our good friend Gerald Nicosia (b. 1949), author of Memory Babe: A Critical Biography of Jack Kerouac, and Jack Saunders (1939 - 2018), author of Bukowski Never Did This: A Year in the Life of an Underground Writer & His Family. Also included are poems by Henry Denander, Michael Estabrook, Melody Blake, Gary Goude, Gerald Locklin (1941-2021), Juanita Joaquin, Joyce Metzger, & Herb Kitson. Chapbook in stapled wrappers: First Printing. In Very Fine condition with little to no notable flaws except very minor rubbing to the front cover; pages are crisp and clean. Very Fine. [Item #5884]
