Issued as Portents 13 by Ann Charters (author of the first major biography of Jack Kerouac), this 6"x15" broadside is a prospectus for a special Herman Melville-related box of which only 25 were produced. "This Melville box attempts to give a sense of Melville's presence in the Berkshires by offering a construct of objects, some contemporary to Melville, others from our own time."(first sentence of this prospectus). A very interesting & rare item in itself, in very fine condition: Very light waves at & just below upper-right edge, tiny crease-bump at lower left corner, otherwise virtually mint. Item is currently mounted on stiff board, in protective shrinkwrap; will be shipped rolled in a tube. Very Fine. [Item #1979]
