The second number of this golden-age exemplar of underground comix features two pages of classic work by Robert Crumb (with Itzy & Bitzy, Mr. Natural, Flakey Foont, Eggs Ackles et al.), Kim Deitch, Rory Hayes, Jay Kinney, Jay Lynch, Jim Osborne, Gilbert Shelton (an early appearance of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers prior to their separate spinoff), Art Spiegelman (several early works by the later creator of Maus), Skip Williamson & others. Originally published in 1969, this is the second printing of 1970, indicated by The Bijou Publishing Empire reference on inner front cover (third printing by Kitchen Sink Press) & with twenty titles noted in inner back cover ad (ten in first printing) as established by recognized authorities (Fogel's, Comixjoint et al.). A quintessential comix collectible, in its second-rarest form. For adult comix devotees only. In relatively fine condition, approximately equivalent to a 6.0 grade per Fogel's, CGC, etc.: Moderate rubbing, creasing & discoloration of front & back covers; light crease across length of spine; tiny hole-tears at staple corners. Interior fine except for browning of just-above-newspaper quality pages esp. margins & edges effecting inner front & back covers; but pages not brittle & with barely any acidic scent. Fine.
