Santa Barbara, CA: Capricorn Press, 1971. Limited First Edition. Softcover. Signed by Clayton Eshleman. A prose-poem by Clayton Eshleman, the esteemed & prolific poet, educator & translator who has long resided in Michigan. One of a limited edition of 1000 copies printed by Noel Young, as noted in colophon. Although this is not among the 100 hand-bound & numbered copies also noted, it is boldly hand-signed by Eshleman below the colophon. With short but fascinating autobiography following poem; front cover & title page artwork based on photograph of an Aztec goddess. A profound, relatively early piece created in a unique, stream-of-consciousness/epistolary style; & a rare Eshleman collectible. In very fine condition with only light rubbing esp. at spine edge of blank, light-colored back cover; light browning at thin edges of page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #2502]
