In 1978 Allan and Cinda Kornblum's Toothpaste Press published Robert Creeley's "Later," a 10-part poem by Creeley that spans 11 pages and showcases all the exemplary pillars of merit that have made him a household name. ("Books at Iowa 36," April 1982, Michael Peich). Printed by letterpress on Iyo Glazed paper and sewn into bright orange Strathmore Wrappers, this ornate production also features an incredible cover design and title page illustration by Louis Picek. Contemporary signature reads "for Ken and Ann / Goddamnit! / Better later / Than never... / with my love, / Bob / Detroit * 10/30/80." "Ken and Ann" are Ken & Ann Mikolowski, founders of Detroit's "Alternative Press," publishers of many Beat//New York School/Black Mountain-related authors and Creeley's close friends & colleagues. Chapbook in very fine condition with only moderate rubbing to front, back covers; slight bump-creases to bottom left, top right corners of front cover; minute bumping to bottom right corner of front cover; minute bump-crease to top left corner of back cover; similar minute bump-crease to bottom left corner of same.
