Miller, Reiter & Robbins: Three New Poets
ISBN: 0914610953
New York, NY: Hanging Loose Press, 1991. First Softcover Edition. Softcover. Inscribed & signed by Derek Miller to James Perrizo. "The poems of Derek Miller, Jendi Reiter and Tim Robbins first began to appear in the high school writing section of Hanging Loose magazine, which has presented the work of hundreds of young writers. It was clear from the beginning that these poets had distinctive voices even in their earliest efforts, that they were committed to writing poetry, and that they would continue to grow in their art."(from back cover) Three promising poets are presented here, still in their late teens or early twenties at time of publishing (1991) by the venerable Hanging Loose Press, whose eponymous literary journal numbers are collectible classics. With front & rear cover artworks by Michael Mikolowski. This trade-format first softcover edition is inscribed, signed & dated not long after publication on the title page by one of the three featured poets, Derek Miller: "Jim,/3 years,/(signed) Derek Miller/7/16/93." "Jim" is James Perrizo (1944-2006), a devoted Beat Generation collector & scholar who at one time was the assistant to Edie Parker, Jack Kerouac's first wife. A very interesting & desirable Hanging Loose Press rarity, enriched by this inscription of a contributor & distinguished provenance. In fine condition with only very light rubbing to front, back covers & spine; light edge & corner wear to same; very small tear-fold at lower right corner of front cover; small area of spotting & short, faint scratching at blank upper margin of back cover above (& not effecting) images of poets. Interior very fine with only tiniest bumps at corners of first few page leaves; otherwise substantially mint. Fine. [Item #2811]
