Berlin, Germany: Druckhaus Galrev, 1994. First Edition Thus. Softcover. The first German-language edition of William S. Burroughs' classic late work, published two years after the first American trade edition. WSB had a life-long fondness for & deep interest in felines. This writer recalls his furry friends joining me on the couch as I sat opposite the Beat-&-Beyond icon at his home; & we stood at the grave of Ruski, his late favorite, in the backyard. Translated from English into German by the venerable WSB-associate Udo Breger & his wife, Esther. With haunting illustrations of WSB sporting cat eyes & ears on covers, spine & inner flaps; several contemporary photographs of WSB, cats etc. interspersed throughout text- all unique to this edition, a beautiful softcover original production in sewn binding, limited to 500 copies as noted in copyright-colophon page. See Schottlaender, D10, pg. 93; Shoaf, Section I, No. 78c, pg. 60. From the collection of Jim McCrary, a poet & educator who resides in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was a friend & associate of WSB during his later years there. A most rare & desirable WSB collectible. In very fine condition with only one tiny spot at earlobe of front cover illustration (quite possibly a flaw as issued); very light wear & bumps at corners & edges of front, back covers & spine; moderate spotting at lower & esp. upper edge of text block. Interior very fine, virtually mint except for tiny bumps at upper corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3018]
