London, England: Aloes Books, 2016. Limited First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. Signed by Alexander Adams. A brief, haunting memoir by Alexander Adams, an award-winning artist, poet & writer, concerning his activities, experiences & impressions of Berlin, where he resided during 2007-2014. The narrator "A." is presumed to be the author. One of a limited edition of 75, this is copy No. 43/75 as hand-noted in pencil on the title page. Also on the title page below his printed name, Adams has hand-signed his name (last name only) in black ink. Per a letter written to this writer by the author, this is one of only two copies with "...white linen texture card..." comprising front, back cover & spine wrappers. A beautiful hand-crafted production by Jim Pennington's legendary Aloes Books, venerable publisher of collectible classics including William S. Burroughs' White Subway. Included is a loose color reproduction of a postcard sent by the author from Berlin to Coventry, UK with reproductions of an Adams artwork, "Anna Chapman I, 0/10/39" on recto & his hand-written message on verso. This writer has the pleasure & privilege of being a friend & colleague to both Adams & Pennington through our participation in the European Beat Studies Network (ebsn.eu), where we have delivered outstanding presentations at its annual conferences (if we may say so ourselves). At the 2016 conference in Manchester, UK, Pennington demonstrated the vintage Gestetner duplicator used in the printing of this item. An important work by an up-&-coming, prodigious member of the new Beat-&-Beyond Generation; & a superb rarity sure to increase in value. In very fine condition, as new with only a few short, faint creases & tiny bumps at front cover, spine & upper edges & corners of same & back cover, as issued. Very Fine. [Item #3028]
