This fourth issue of Jerome Rothenberg's masterful "Mimeo Rev"-era publication "Poems from the Floating World" advertises on its cover the "Poems of Andre Breton," echoing early Beat-related interest in Surrealism from its grunt-given, fuming Parisian pope, Breton. Rothenberg himself appears in the magazine with selections "From a Shaman's Notebook," and the magazine also boasts contributors Paul Blackburn, Robert Kelly, Federico Garcia Lorca, George Economou ("Trobar" Magazine), Diane Wakoski and Jorge Luis Borges. It is the opinion of this author that when it comes to collecting literary magazines/journals from this era, "Poems from the Floating World" is an exceedingly great place to start, and especially so for a entry-mid-level collector, as an entire run can be obtained for far less than, say, a full run of Cid Corman's "Origin" magazine, "The Black Mountain Review" or "Fuck You/A Magazine of the Arts," yet the contributor list is often as star-studded and the content as exquisite. These magazines are often more telling of the taste of its editor than the style of the poet who appears in them with their selections. Such is the joy of the "little magazine," and of its explosion in the "Mimeograph Revolution." Signed by contributor Diane Wakoski in black pen ink. Signature reads: "Diane Wakoski (doodle)."
