n/p; Ann Arbor, MI; New York, NY: Jorge Garcia-Robles; Priceless Preservation; Viking/ the Penguin Group; Twelve/ Hachette Book Group, 1990-2018. Original Negatives; Original Digitization; First Editions. Negatives; Disc in Case; Hardcovers. During 1990, Mexican author Jorge Garcia-Robles traveled to Lawrence, Kansas to visit & interview William S. Burroughs, as part of his research that led to the publication of his acclaimed study, The Stray Bullet: William S. Burroughs in Mexico (1995; English edition 2013). While at WSB's home, Garcia-Robles took a series of candid photographs that depict WSB shooting at targets, knife-throwing, preparing for & inspecting the results of these activities, in the company of his foremost companion James Grauerholz, & with other associates & neighbors. A few of the images were taken by others that depict Garcia-Robles with WSB, & even peering from the porthole-window inside WSB's legendary Orgone Accumulator. These are delightfully candid portraits & scenarios with a charming touch of WSB's self-conscious I-know-what-you're-all-thinking posing. According to Garcia-Robles, just a few of the eighteen images were ever reproduced, narrowly in local reviews & exhibits. Offered here, obtained directly from Garcia-Robles, are the original negatives (remember those relics?) of these photographs, along with a disc of digitized developed images from them produced here in Ann Arbor at the Priceless Preservation facility during 2018. As a bonus, we are also offering two important WSB-related volumes as part of this very special package: The Letters of William S. Burroughs 1945-1959, edited & with an introduction by Super-Burroughsian Dr. Oliver Harris, first edition/ first printing hardcover in dust jacket, including a prepublication pamphlet of excerpts (1993); & Call Me Burroughs: A Life, the celebrated door-stopper biography of WSB by Barry Miles, first edition/ first printing hardcover in dust jacket (2014). The images of WSB & co. from these negatives are indeed priceless- dare we say he looks happy in his milieu, enjoying some of his favorite activities in warmly reverent company. A one-of-a-kind Bundle of Burroughsiana available only here at Third Mind Books. All of the above in very fine condition, substantially as new, except for the pamphlet of excerpts for the Letters volume, in very fine condition with only very light rubbing, occasional spotting & miniscule edgewear to front, back wrappers & stapled spine; staples beginning to rust with no discernible exterior or interior bleeding. Very Fine / Very fine. [Item #3171]
