An anthology of selections from the first three decades of works by Theodore Enslin (1925-2011), a most revered & prolific poet who was first associated with Cid Corman's Origin magazine & press, Charles Olson, Robert Creeley, & the Black Mountain and Objectivist Schools. Enslin studied music, & his poetry is considered among the most "musical" among American poets. Living in near-isolation on the coast of Maine for much of his life, Enslin was a poet's poet who labored outside the mainstream but who achieved recognition during his long life & especially, increasingly since his passing. One of 200 hardbound copies printed during December 1974, numbered & signed by Enslin on the colophon page. This is copy No. 135/200. An exemplary Black Sparrow Press production, & an essential collectible cornerstone in the vast Enslin canon. In near-fine condition with only mild rubbing & a few tiny spots to front board; very slight fading to cloth spine; more pronounced rubbing with dark smudging to back board; moderate spotting to upper edge of text block, spreading slightly onto upper board edges; much less of same to side & lower edges of text block. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps & spots at uppermost edges & corners of a few page leaves. Publisher's probable clear protective wrapper not present, we have ensconsed this volume in our own such wrapper. Near Fine. [Item #3206]
