Brief Number Four (May 1989)

Canyon, CA: Jim Hydock, 1989. First Printing. Stapled Wrappers. Signed by Clayton Eshleman to James Perrizo. This number of the small literary journal edited & published by Jim Hydock features the poem "Kerlescan, 1985" by Clayton Eshleman, the acclaimed & prolific poet, translator & scholar who has long resided near us in Michigan, our friend & mentor. Just below his printed name near top of the poem's first page, Eshleman has hand-written & signed in bold red ink: "(signed) Clayton Eshleman/ for Jim Perrizo/ 1989." The late James Perrizo was a devoted Beat-&-Beyond collector & scholar, who knew & particularly emphasized Eshleman in his vast library. Also in this issue are contributions of poetry by William Corbett, Lee Ann Brown & others; & reproductions of four graphic works by Crag Hill. An obscurely rare literary collectible, enriched with its signature by Eshleman, association & provenance. In very fine condition with only some very short, faint creases mostly at & around stapled spine; one tiny spot near lower left corner of front cover; very light wear & a few tiny bumps, creases at cover edges & corners. Interior very fine with only tiny-to-small bumps at upper corners of page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3394]
