Ann Arbor, MI: OtherWind Press, Inc., 1990. First Printing. Softcover; Flexible Record Sheet. Signed by Diane Wakoski. This number of the collectible literary journal, published here in Ann Arbor during the 1980s-1990s, edited by Pat Smith & Marla Huber Smith, features three poems by Diane Wakoski, the esteemed & prolific poet who has long resided in Michigan. At the first of these poems, "Carla Boucher Eats Poppies In Santa Fe: A meditation on desert images," next to & below her printed, underlined name at the top of page 68, Wakoski has hand-written her signature with characteristic series of vertical doodles. Also in this issue is a "soundsheet" flexible record, still attached between inner front cover & first contents page, with readings of excerpts from "Journal: June 1971" by Paul Blackburn (1926-1971), the revered Black Mountain School-&-Beyond poet; & contributions by such great American luminaries as Robert Creeley, Deep Image School founder-master Robert Kelly, Ken Mikolowski (our good friend & the founder of the legendary Alternative Press with his late wife Anne), Keith Taylor (another local friend & acclaimed poet) & many more. With reviews & reproductions of photos as cover artwork by co-editor Marla Huber Smith on front cover. This was presented as a final issue, with a loose sheet between last page & inner front cover noting that OtherWind Press would cease publication with this issue; & there is a prolific & prestigious roster of contributors from its inception on back cover. However, new issues were published by OtherWind Press in a smaller format beginning the next year (1991). A very rare & desirable issue in this very important series, especially with Wakoski's signature & the recording of Blackburn writings from very near the end of his life. In very fine condition with only a few short, faint creases at blank white areas of front cover; very light wear & a few small bumps at edges & corners of front, back covers & spine. Interior very fine with only small-to-tiny bumps at corners of a few page leaves. Flexible record sheet is still attached at perforation as noted above & appears to be pristine. Very Fine.
