The Ohio Review No. 38
ISBN: (ISSN)03601013
Athens, OH: Ohio University, 1987. First Printing. Softcover. Signed by Diane Wakoski. This number of the prestigious literary journal published by Ohio University at Athens begins with a "Special Feature: Poets on the Line" section, wherein a very distinguished group of American poets discuss & analyze that most basic feature of poetry- the line itself. Most contributions in this section are essays, including one by Diane Wakoski, the acclaimed & prolific poet who has long resided in Michigan ("Eye & Ear: A manifesto"). Next to her printed name above the essay on page 14, Wakoski has hand-written her signature with characteristic series of vertical doodles. Also in this special section are essays & a few poems by Robert Bly, editor Dodd, David Ignatow, Philip Levine & others. Elsewhere in this issue are poems by Bly, (the most interestingly named) Joyce James, Joyce Carol Oates & many others. With notes on contributors, contemporary ads, etc. A rich & rare issue in this venerable series, especially with Wakoski's signature. In very fine condition with only very mild rubbing & a few light, faint creases & dimples to glossy front, back covers & spine; slightest wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; mild rubbing & occasional spotting at upper & lower edges of text block. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps at upper corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3417]
