This vintage, very first number of the literary journal edited by Roy Weinberger features two early poems by Diane Wakoski (here named Diane Wakoski-Sherbell), the acclaimed & prolific poet influenced by the Beat Generation & then-associated with the Deep Image School, who has long resided here in Michigan. Below the first poem, "Summer," just under her printed name, Wakoski has hand-written her signature with characteristic series of vertical doodles (pg. 12). Also in this inaugural issue are contributions of poetry & prose by Robert Bosworth, Mildred B. Cavallo, Patricia Ellsworth, Barbara A. Holland, Paul Johnson (unrelated to the acclaimed British historian) & many more. With notes on contributors. A milestone literary rarity; & a most important Wakoski collectible with her signature. In fine condition with only mild rubbing, browning, spotting & occasional light creasing to front, back covers & spine; mild wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; mild rubbing, browning & spotting to edges of text block. Interior very fine with only staples (which bind pages, not covers & spine) in process of rusting with minimal bleeding onto inner front cover & first page; miniscule bumps at upper corners of thick, tumbled-stock page leaves.
