Poetry Vol. 118 No. 6 (September 1971)

Chicago, IL: Modern Poetry Association, 1971. First Printing. Softcover. Signed by Diane Wakoski. This number of the venerable poetry journal founded in 1912 & chiefly edited by Daryl Hine features four poems by American giant Robert Pinsky, along with poems by David Galler & many others. The lengthy "Comment" section of reviews includes Diane Wakoski's "Songs & Notes," an essay reviewing contemporary collections by Deep Image master Robert Kelly & Charles Simic. At the end of her piece on page 358, just below & slightly beside her printed name, Wakoski, the acclaimed & prolific poet then-associated with the Deep Image School herself, has hand-written her signature with characteristic series of vertical doodles. With notes on contributors, "News Notes," contemporary ads etc. A scarce & desirable issue in this esteemed series; & a very rare Wakoski collectible. In very fine condition with only light rubbing to front, back covers & spine; mildest wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; just a bit of rubbing & spotting at edges of text block. Interior very fine with only miniscule bumps at corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3496]
