Chapbook signed by Dave Ellison & Karl Gallagher; portfolio inscribed & signed by Karl Gallagher to Charles Plymell, reproductions therein signed & dated by Karl Gallagher. A chapbook of poems by the Australian poet Dave Ellison, with front cover & frontispiece illustrations by the noted Australian artist Karl Gallagher (1943-2016). On title page, Ellison has hand-written: "Regards,/ (signed) Dave Ellison." Below Ellison's signature, Gallagher has hand-signed his name. Inside the chapbook, there is a folded sheet containing five color reproductions of Gallagher artworks, all hand-signed & dated by him, usually on blank verso, in some cases signed on recto margin & dated (& in one case signed again) on verso, all in pencil. On the front panel of otherwise blank folder sheet, Gallagher has hand-written, mostly in blue ink with one line & a fraction of the previous line in pencil: "Charles, Dave E sent up a couple/ of chap(book)s he did 20 years ago (A/ couple of drawings by me). And which/ he signed. I have too, now forwarding to you./ Also enclosed a few more prints/ of photos of paintings I found going/ through some old folders./ May the Great Spirit take/ you home to your ancestral/ lands- when the time comes. (underlined)/ and not before./ (signed) Karl." "Charley" is Charles Plymell, the great American poet, printer, publisher & Legendary Literary Outlaw who is our good friend & from whom we obtained these wonderful items. A one-of-a-kind bundle combining art & poetry, with spectacular association & provenance. Chapbook in near-fine condition with only very light rubbing to front, back covers & stapled spine; mild wear & some creasing to edges & corners of same; small area at upper left corner & edge of blank back cover torn with slight loss of paper. Interior very fine with only small creases, bumps at corners & edges of some page leaves. Portfolio in fine condition with mild rubbing, creasing to front & back panels of cover folder; mild wear, small bumps & folds at edges & corners of sheets & cover folder. Near Fine; Fine.
