A large poster (20" x 25&3/4") announcing a lecture series, exhibitions, symposium etc. held during 1986-1987 honoring the centennial of Robinson Jeffers (1887-1962), the iconic American poet & environmentalist who was an inspiration to Charles Bukowski, Gary Snyder & many others. The series of events were sponsored by & mostly took place at Occidental College in Los Angeles, which was Jeffers' alma mater (class of 1905) & which was also celebrating its own centennial, having been established in 1887. With Jeffers' complete famous short poem "Rock and Hawk" printed in large, bold font & a small illustration of the silhouette of a hawk in flight descending. A beautiful production; & a rare, riveting tribute to a great American figure. In very fine condition with light creases where originally folded into four panels; some short, faint creases emanating therefrom; just a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners. Currently mounted on stiff board in protective shrinkwrap; will be shipped carefully re-folded. Very Fine. [Item #3519]
