Boundary 2 Vol. III No. 3 (Spring 1975)

Binghamton, NY: State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, 1975. First Printing. Softcover. Signed by Clayton Eshleman. This vintage number of the scholarly literary journal, specially dedicated to "The Oral Impulse in Contemporary American Poetry" & chiefly edited by Robert Kroetsch & William V. Spanos, features the essay "The Gull Wall" by Clayton Eshleman, an analysis of the work of Paul Blackburn, his late friend & fellow acclaimed American poet (pg. 761). On the second contents page, next to his reference, Eshleman has hand-written his signature in bold black ink. Other distinguished contributors to this door-stopper of an issue include David Antin, George Dardess (a wonderful essay on Jack Kerouac's spontaneous prose methods including several of Kerouac's own texts about his techniques), Theodore Enslin, ethno-poetics pioneer Jerome Rothenberg (interview conducted by William Spanos & a section of poems) & many more. With notes on contributors, illustrations including artworks & antique maps, etc. A deep, rich issue in this venerable series, especially collectible with the signature of a major contributor. In very fine condition with only mild rubbing, browning-sunning & occasional spotting to front, back covers & spine; mild wear & a few tiny bumps to edges & corners of same; very slight warpage to side edge of front cover; mild rubbing & spotting to edges of text block esp. upper edge. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps at corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3540]
