The No Book

Essex, England: Voiceprint Edition, 1971. First Edition. Stapled Wrappers. "Poetry is the story of the soul./ Music is the sound of the soul./ Painting is the picture of the soul." ("Credo," pg. 12) A slim chapbook of poems by Tom Clark (1941-2018), the prodigious poet, editor & biographer who epitomizes our category of "The Prolific & Underappreciated." Featuring haiku-like poems & stanzas rich with the sly humor, profundity & weirdness that mark all of Clark's poetry- clearly influenced by his New York School & other famed colleagues but altogether unique to him. An austere chapbook production in blank yellow wrappers. An early rarity in the Clark canon, in exceptionally very fine condition with only a bit of rubbing & sparse spotting to front, back covers & stapled spine; very mild wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; staples just beginning to rust with miniscule bleeding at upper staple interior; small area of spotting at upper right edge of text block. Interior very fine with only minimal rust-bleeding noted above, otherwise substantially mint. Very Fine. [Item #3650]
