Cambridge, MA: Richard Cambridge, 1992. First Edition. Sheets in "VeloBind" Binding. Inscribed & signed by Richard Cambridge to Thomas Rain Crowe. A self-published book of poems by Richard Cambridge, an intense "Slam" poet who appropriately lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts near Boston. We can imagine these tough, topical, momentum-generating Jeremiads being bellowed by Cambridge at a Poetry Slam, as he frequently & prominently does. A bold production bound in "VeloBind" with clear plastic front over-cover & blank black plastic back cover; front cover collage by Cambridge that evokes the topics & controversies of the contents. The first of these pounding poems are "The Life Of A Man," dedicated to Ruben "Hurricane" Carter & evoking Paterson, NJ (including references to Allen Ginsberg & William Carlos Williams). On title page, Cambridge has hand-written & signed: "Thomas-/ with respect & great appreciation/ for your work/ I offer these poems to you-/ Hope you enjoy them!/ (signed) Richard Cambridge/ 24 May '93." "Thomas" is Thomas Rain Crowe, the acclaimed poet & publisher who was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting from San Francisco, item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). An explosive, scarce Cambridge collectible with poet-to-poet association & provenance. In very fine condition with only mild rubbing & scratching to clear plastic front over-cover; mild wear & a few tiny bumps, creases & sparse spotting at edges & corners incl. text block. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps, crease-folds at lower corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3691]
