Mumbo Issue Number Five (Autumn 2007)

Dallas, TX: Oddfish Productions/ David Tosh, 2007. Second Printing. Stapled Wrappers. Signed by David Tosh. "Mumbo is back! This is the second of the renewed Mumbos to see print, and in it, you'll find more rambling comments from yers truly about comics, movies, music, and whatever else I can shoehorn in. Welcome aboard." (from "Mumbo Mumblings from Tosh," pg. 3) The fifth issue of the "little zine" edited, published & with contributions by David Tosh, a comics enthusiast who learned about vintage productions while working with a prestigious auction house, & is a self-published cartoonist himself. This issue is chock full of delightful vintage comic excerpts, very high-quality reproductions of lurid, campy posters of the 1930s-1960s (Reefer Madness, strippers etc.), & Tosh's own collages of "The Comics That Never Were!" With commentaries & introductory essay (quoted above) by Tosh, & transcript of a letter by comics scholar John Margeotes. Small magazine-chapbook format, second printing of 2009 as stated on back cover. Also on back cover, inside & slightly beyond window at lower left corner, Tosh has hand-written his first initial & full surname. A very desirable (ha ha) & informative collectible for the comic & cultural enthusiast. In very fine condition with only very light wear & a few tiny bumps, creases at edges & corners of front, back covers & spine. Interior very fine with only small-to-tiny bumps at upper corners of page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3715]
