San Lorenzo, CA: Shameless Hussy Press, 1976. Second Revised Edition; First Edition Thus. Softcover. Signed by Jerry Ratch to Thomas Rain Crowe. "Ratch's imagination is rare in its movements; he is technically astute, and his movements among weird senses of self-isolation and meaninglessness and comic play are almost always right...We've seen contemporary life arraigned this way before, but seldom with so much depth and perceptivity. Ratch seems to be working toward a new form for the long poem..." (Robert Peters quoted on back cover) A volume with the title epic poem in twenty-six roman-numeraled sections by Jerry Ratch, the acclaimed Chicago-born American poet. As noted on copyright page, this trade-format softcover original is a partially revised, completely redesigned second edition, preceded by a different edition three years earlier (1973), & therefore a first edition thus. On the title page, Ratch has hand-written, signed & dated during the year of publication: "For Tom/ (signed)-Jerry/ SF/ 1976." "Tom" is Thomas Rain Crowe, the noted poet & publisher who was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting from San Francisco, item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). At the place & time noted by Ratch here- San Francisco in 1976- Crowe was at the height of his work as a poet & impresario. A highly important & desirable Ratch collectible with very significant poet-to-poet association & provenance. In very fine condition with only very light rubbing, sunning, scratching & light, faint creasing to front, back covers & spine; a bit of wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; mild rubbing & spotting to edges of text block. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps at upper corners of some page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3788]
