"fall leaves representative/ hands that pass from the mind/ color, gesture, symbol, tongue, speech/ leaf falls here/ forms a language/ of us" (final lines) A chapbook with the title poem by Gil Ott (1950-2004), the noted American poet, essayist & publisher who mostly resided & worked in Philadelphia. With graphic illustrations on front cover & throughout by Carol Emmons, the source & methods of which she explains in a paragraph following the poem. As noted in colophon, this is one of 350 (un-numbered) copies sewn in wrappers, published during January 1980 (copyright dates for poem & graphics are 1979, poem is dated "October 1978" at its conclusion). A beautiful production; & a rare Ott-Emmons collectible. In fine condition with only mild rubbing, moderate spotting & a few short, faint creases to front, back covers & sewn spine; mild wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; very light rubbing & sparse spotting to edges of text block. Interior very fine with only light spotting to blank inner front covers & blank margins/ edges of a few page leaves; tiny bumps at mostly upper corners of same. Fine. [Item #3818]
