The Immigrants
Ashland, KY: BullHead Books, 2018. Limited First Edition Thus. Sewn Wrappers. Signed by Joe Napora. "It is how the light is fixed,/ how silver salt preserves that time/ from fading. The image surfaces." (first stanza) A chapbook with the title poem by Joe Napora, the passionate & prolific American poet, publisher, editor & activist. With reproductions of a vintage family photograph & details thereof throughout. A charming hand-crafted production in sewn wrappers produced by Napora's own BullHead imprint. The colophon states: "First published by hand in a limited edition of 90 copies by Blue Moon Press, 1992 with images by Jim Lee from photographs furnished by the author. Now by BullHead Books 2018 in an edition of 30 copies." The copies are un-numbered & do not call for signing, but on the title page, which features a full image of the family photo, Napora has hand-written his signature below his printed name in bold black ink. The previous 1992 edition of 90 appears to have been a more lavish production & sellers are asking for $100 or more for the few copies of that edition still available as of this writing. We have seen no other copies of this later, more limited edition. An exceptionally rare & desirable Napora collectible, destined for ever-greater value. In very fine condition with only slight ink residue from signature on blank page opposite signed title page; otherwise substantially mint inside & out. Very Fine. [Item #3918]
