Earth Letters One: Bisbee Arizona With Meridel Le Sueur

Ashland, KY: BullHead Books, 2017. First Edition. Sewn Wrappers. "Everyone knows Meridel's favorite parable, in which the butterflies outlast the dinosaurs. War machines, bulldozers, tanks and stomping armies of brute stubborn things become extinct, while the poetry of life, its generous instinct to be not only useful but BEAUTIFUL, survives." (from "Meridel Le Sueur in Cochise County," unpaginated) A collection of miscellaneous writings by Barbara Mor (1936-2015), the noted American poet & feminist scholar. With transcript of a letter from Mor to Joe Napora, the passionate & prolific poet, editor, publisher & activist. Also with a diaristic essay about Mor's encounter with Meridel Le Sueur, an elderly denizen-historian of the old mining town of Bisbee, Arizona; & other writings & notes including a short poem by Napora. An exemplary, well-crafted chapbook production in sewn wrappers, published by Napora's BullHead imprint several years following Mor's death. A very interesting compilation for the Mor & Napora collector. In very fine condition with only several very small spot-stains in blank white areas of back cover esp. near lower edge; a few miniscule bumps at edges & corners of front, back covers & sewn spine. Interior very fine with only tiny bumps at corners of a few page leaves. Very Fine. [Item #3978]
