New York, NY; London, England: Jack Tilton Gallery; October Gallery in Conjunction with the Suzanne Biederberg Gallery, 1988. First Edition. Softcover. This art-centric Burroughs-&-Beyond bundle features two art catalogs from the year 1988, a time when Burroughs was immersing himself in painting after the 1986 passing of his dear coconspirator, Brion Gysin. The "Literary Vision" exhibit, which took place at the Jack Tilton Gallery in November of 1988, included photographs and artwork by luminaries and litterateurs such as William Blake, Kenneth Rexroth, Allen Ginsberg, Brion Gysin, D.H. Lawrence, Henry Miller, Kenneth Patchen and many more. It contains a short introduction by gallerist Jack Tilton himself, followed by a short note on the works by Bradford Morrow. Included with this is another essential work in the visual art-related oeuvre of William S. Burroughs, the 1988 work "Painting." It is an exquisite, small-format catalog of WSB's paintings, published by 2 venues that sold them, the Suzanne Biederberg Gallery in Amsterdam & the October Gallery in London. The high-quality color reproductions of WSB's paintings, as well as the insightful essay by James Grauerholz, "On Burroughs' Art" leave little to be desired.
