Cullowhee, NC: New Native Press, 2012. Limited First Edition. Stapled Wrappers in Attached Over-Wraps. Signed by publisher Thomas Rain Crowe. "Off in the distance/ over a stand of pines/ at pasture's edge,/ a buzzard floats,/ swirls, angled, adrift/ against heron-blue sky." ("Conference of the Birds: for Janisse Ray," Part I, first lines, unpaginated) A collection of bird-themed poems by Christopher Martin, a noted Georgian (USA) poet & prose writer. A handsome chapbook production in stapled wrappers with illustrated attached over-wraps & flaps, front cover & title page artwork by Hara Woltz. Published by New Native Press, part of its Stewardship Series as listed opposite title page. NNP is the imprint of Thomas Rain Crowe, the acclaimed poet & publisher who was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting From San Francisco, Item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). Crowe & Martin are friends & kindred poetic colleagues (see our Item No. 4019, in which Martin nods to this production in his inscription to Crowe). As noted on colophon, this copy is from an edition of 200 printed during the winter of 2012, of which 50 copies were numbered & signed by Martin. At bottom of colophon is "This copy is #" with no hand-written number or signature, therefore we presume this is an author's or publisher's copy, obtained from Crowe's library. On the copyright page, next to reference to himself & NNP, Crowe has hand-written his signature in bold blue ink. A desirable & rewarding Martin collectible with publisher's association & provenance. In very fine condition with only very slight wear & a few tiny bumps at edges & corners of front, back covers & spine of attached over-wraps. Interior substantially mint. Very Fine. [Item #4225]
