Realmente Pateticos (Obras Completas-16)

Barcelona, Spain: Ediciones La Cupula, 2008. First Edition. Hardcover. “When people say ‘What are underground comics?’ I think the best way you can define them is just the absolute freedom involved…we didn’t have anyone standing over us…” said Underground Comix extraordinaire Robert Crumb, the seminal guerilla-visionary whose work opened the door to an entirely new style of visual expression during the late 1960s. Offered here is a unique Spanish-language edition of Crumb titled “Realmente Pateticos” and published as Volume 16 in the publisher’s “Obras Completas” series. It bears mentioning that this does not contain the same stories [as presented sequentially] as the Fantagraphics series. This volume features “Pete the Plumber,” “Stinko the Clown,” “Lap of Luxury,” “The Hipman” and many more exemplary and essential cartoon sins from the Crumb canon. This copy is particularly desirable, as it has been hand-signed by Crumb in thick pencil and reads: “R. Crumb / 2008.” Book in very fine condition with only slightest shelf-wear to fine-edges and minute bump to top left, top-right hand corner of front, back covers. Very Fine. [Item #4272]
