Blue Beat Jacket 20: "Almost Unknown Ferlinghetti"

Sanjo-Shi, Niigata: Japan: Blue Beat Jacket / Yusuke Keida, 2002. Limited First Printing. String-Bound. "This issue is Lawrence Ferlinghetti special from the Vojo Sindolic Beat Archive, Dubrovnik in R. Croatia. ... Ferlinghetti poems, his photos, drawings & the poet's 'statement for "BBJ" came from Vojo. But we found some of them unpublished so left them off. Last April (of 2001) Ferlinghetti sent us two broadsides with a card (pg. 2). Now you can enjoy 'ALMOST UNKNOWN FERLINGHETTI.' " The issue begins with two Ferlinghetti poems written in his own hand: "And the Sun...for Vojo" and "The Plow of Time," also dedicated to Sindolic. Two unnumbered, untitled Ferlinghetti short stanzas appear next, followed by "Boccioni's Morning and Twilight," a meditation on the great Italian Futurist painter-&-sculptor Umberto Boccioni. I could go on in this manner, but suffice it to say that the title really is lived up to--this "Almost Unknown Ferlinghetti" contains a bunch of well-curated overlooked Ferlinghetti placed nicely in an overlooked Beat periodical. Other contributors appear as well, including the late, beloved Steve Dalachinsky; celebrated critic Gerald Locklin; Sam Hamil; Herschel Silverman, A.D. Winans and more. This is one of an unnumbered edition of 100 copies--a scarce, well-preserved edition of Yusuke Keida's classic Beat periodical. Book in very fine condition, virtually as new. Very Fine. [Item #4397]
