Merwin, James Dickey, Giles Gordon, Anselm Hollo, Ted Hughes, Paul Theroux, Alexander Trocchi & many more- a sweepingly varied contemporary compilation, with many of the contributors at pre-breakthrough stages of their later storied careers. Also an interview with the British playwright Edward Bond conducted by Gordon; a gathering of American & Australian short stories including by Marge Piercy; a section of stories from India & Africa; illustrations; notes on contributors; a few contemporary ads. Trade-format softcover, complete with loose, substantially mint subscription card which was to be filled in & mailed to London or NYC. A rich, eclectic issue in this most collectible series. In fine condition with light rubbing & browning to front, back covers & esp. spine; mild wear & some tiny bumps at edges & corners of same; one series of small, faint creases at/ near upper right corner of front cover extending through interior & back cover; mild rubbing, browning & occasional spotting to edges of text block. Interior fine with first four page leaves fragile & loosening at binding but still attached; small creases to upper corners of page leaves noted above; tiny bumps at lower corners of a few of same.
