Two Broadsides: "From THE POEMS, of Daniel Boone a section of TRAVELS INTO THE INTERIOR" with: "Even a Circle"

n/p; Sylva, NC: n/p; New Native Press, 1985. First Printing; Limited First Printing. Folded Single Sheet; Single Sheet. Two very rare broadsides by Joe Napora, the passionate & prolific American poet, editor, publisher & activist: (1) "From THE POEMS, of Daniel Boone a section of TRAVELS INTO THE INTERIOR," broadside (appx. 4&1/4" x 7&1/2" folded, 12&3/4" x 15" unfolded) folded into nine panels/ eighteen sides with the poem "To John Filson, his first biographer (for Katie Beard Tisdale) on verso; & facsimile of vintage map of pre-Revolutionary ("1718") portions of what are now Canada & New York State, divided between main title above which ends "by Joe Napora in March, 1985" on recto. The poem appears to contain quotes or paraphrases of the American folk-hero explorer (or if you prefer native-nemesis-colonizer whose references & statues are undoubtedly being canceled & toppled as we speak) Daniel Boone (1734-1820). A beautiful & delicate letterpress production on complicatedly folded handmade paper, other than author(s) & date noted above there is no information or colophon as to publisher or limitation- this is most likely self-published by Napora. (2) "Even a Circle," broadside (appx. 11" x 12") with the title poem encircled in a brush-stroke illustration. Below the poem, illustration & Napora's printed name is this fine-print statement: "Copyright (c) Joe Napora 1985 200 copies printed in Sylva, N.C. for New Native Press in the summer of 1985." NNP is the imprint of Thomas Rain Crowe, the acclaimed poet & publisher who was at the center of the Baby Beat Generation/ Second San Francisco Renaissance during the 1970s (see our book, Starting From San Francisco, Item No. 3071, Deluxe Edition No. 3075). Crowe & Napora are close friends & kindred colleagues, & we obtained both of these broadsides from Crowe's own collection. Two most scarce & desirable Napora collectibles. (1) in fine condition, folded as described above, with light brown-staining & spotting to front & esp. rear sides folded, & at/ near all thin fold-edges opened; a few tiny bumps & short, faint creases at edges, corners & surfaces. (2) also fine with one horizontal crease across surfaces (blank verso) where originally folded; a few tiny bumps & short, faint creases at edges, corners & surfaces. Note that (2) will be shipped slightly refolded along with (1). Fine. [Item #4440]
