Allied's Radio Data Handbook

Chicago, IL: Allied Radio Corporation, 1945. Tenth Printing. Stapled Wrappers. Nelson Magor Cooke (28 November 1903 – 30 November 1965) was a leader in developing electronic schools of the United States Navy, the recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal and Medal for Humane Action, a post-war engineering entrepreneur, and an author of books on applied mathematics and basic electronics. Authoring and editing several books on technical engineering and electronics, Cooke made it a mission to make these esoteric and often dense technical manuals accessible and digestible to those outside of the military and other highly specialized fields. The “Radio Data Handbook” is a compilation of formulas, tables, charts, and data. The editors and writers went through every measure to make sure that the contents of this handbook were as easily accessible and clear as possible. An indispensable tool both in and out of the classroom, laboratory, and engineer’s workshops alike. Comprehensive, concise, very well put together, and endlessly helpful, “Radio Data Handbook” is a volume that, though from a relatively bygone era, can and is still able to be relevant and useful. From the collection of Russell Taylor Weil (b. 1927), a prominent retired attorney & collector from Washington, DC. It is likely that Weil used this copy of the handbook during his military service in the late stages of World War II. Mr. Weil's signature and notation can be found in the top right-hand corner of the title page: "Weil. R.T. / 36-B-2 / Pm 503." Softcover in stapled wrappers; first edition, tenth printing, March, 1945 as stated on copyright page. Book is in fine condition, wear and staining mar the fine edges, light to mild smudging and fading on front and back covers, and some minor fraying at spine/binding. Fine. [Item #5604]
